Why we do this ?
I once watched a BBC News report about a boy in Gaza, so malnourished from famine that his bones were visible. He appeared to be about the same age as my eldest son. Tragically, he passed away shortly after the interview. Before the war, his mother had shown a photo of him to the journalist—he was once healthy, bright, and full of life.
The reality is shocking:
- Out of 8.2 billion people worldwide, approximately 295 million suffer from hunger.
- The main causes are: conflict and civil war..
The biggest cause of conflict is territorial expansion. Human greed for territory and resources, rooted in instinct, drives war and famine. Wealth is highly concentrated:

Most of the bottom 50% focus on survival, not expansion. Wars and hunger are largely caused by the top 10% who control most of the world’s wealth.
The deeper reason is inner emptiness. Even the wealthy face profound suffering and seek relief through endless material indulgence and conquest. This cycle perpetuates destruction, not happiness.
Ancient Athens said it best:
“Know thyself.”
Humans are not just intelligent animals. Our true essence is the universal energy of love—the divinity within us. True, lasting happiness comes from using this energy: helping others, loving, and giving selflessly. Our souls are eternal and infinitely valuable—far beyond any material wealth.
